Lately, I’ve been very much into the combination of contrasting textures. Give me chiffon with wool, silk with knits or lace with leather any day! I find this particularly appealing in winter, when most people pick thick fabrics over soft ones, instead of mixing them like they should And if, by any chance, you’re not convinced by my many arguments so far, see for yourselves:

Today, winter reached its peak in my city. I don’t remember seeing such snow in Cluj for as long as I’ve lived here – and that’s like eight years. The trees are frozen – everything is – but they look beautiful. And how does that interfere with my outfit posts? Well, everything that isn’t brightly colored gets lost in the sea of white, if I may use this cliche. Plus, the brightness makes you squint your eyes. Like so:

Sessun, Fall-Winter 2011 Lookbook

Isn’t it funny how we always want what we can’t have? I marvel at bloggers from other parts of the world who complain about the heat and dream of winter layers. It’s like curly girls who want straight hair and vice versa.

At first, I wanted to post about Sessun‘s spring-summer collection, but, in the end, I found this one more appropriate for the current weather. There’s plenty of snow and winter layering here – although I always wanted a one-month winter (in December, that is), I think it would suffice. And then, six months of spring, three of summer and two months of autumn. I should start a petition.

I love Sessun’s usage of primary colors regardless of the season. Who’s to say colors are prohibited in fall-winter? Cause, you know, they’re not. You have to try colorful tights at the least! I’ve been loving them for years (ever since I could only find them in children’s sections – that’s when I was glad to be 1.60) and I don’t think I’ll give them up any time soon.

Hurray for this combination of electric blue with ocher! It’s wearable, yet out of the ordinary. I love the length of the trousers (if you’re petite, you know how tough it is to find the right length in pants), the A-line skirts and the very feminine tops. My favorite piece is the navy dress with a bow at the middle, worn in the lookbook with burgundy tights and a matching turban.

I was looking forward to wearing this new sweater that my mom made, and then I found myself a bit confused on how to wear it. Sometimes I think that all this internet misleads me into believing that I actually own the items that I add to wishlists. Faced with my closet today, I was looking for a certain skirt that wasn’t there. Because I don’t have it.

Brick orange and mustard are two colors that I really like this season. I was afraid that, if combined, they will look too much like leaves in autumn – but, then again, when did leaves become a bad thing? And here is the result.

Chat’elier: inspired by perfume

On Sunday we had the first Chat’elier meet-up, themed perfumes. It is the first of a series of fashion meet-ups that a few of us Cluj girls have started. The idea was to dress up inspired by our favorite perfume, and then discuss it with other girls, watch perfume ads and videos, and generally get acquainted. Although fragrances are not my thing, I love the idea of dressing up with a theme in mind.

Some wondered if the situation will be weird – a bunch of strangers with one common interest: fashion. It turned out that fashion – and perfumes in particular – make quite the conversation starter. Others doubted this project, saying that they don’t know much about fashion. In my view, you don’t have to know designers and collections to enjoy your fashion. Some like the clothes, some are crazy about accessories, some can’t live without their favorite designer perfume, some just like dressing up – it’s all fashion. Thrifting, Polyvore, blogging, magazines – they’re all accepted, don’t you think?

Everyone interpreted the theme to their own will. I, for one, tried to follow the notes of the perfume: floral (hyacinth and narcissus), yet fresh (rhubarb). Accordingly, I wore a green lace dress with a floral pattern – while trying to incorporate something from the way the bottle looks.

I loved that some of the girls were inspired by the ad campaign, others by the bottle design, others simply by a feeling that the perfume brings upon them.

Who is: The childhood sweetheart bought back to life by The Piemaker in Pushing Daisies. A charming, positive bee-keeper with lots of hidden talents, in the magical setting of the show.

Style: Incognito, feminine, vintage.

Signature pieces: Sunglasses, matching shoes and dress, knee length dress with wide skirt.

Downside: The show has been canceled after just two seasons.

I’ve recently started a partnership with a new fashion label that you might enjoy as well: Oasap. Their products are trendy and quite affordable, which is something I can’t ever say no to. They’ve got some cute clothing and accessories and I’m sure you’ll be charmed by a dress like this one (wishlist!) or this crazily amazing aviator style coat. Or maybe you will fall for the cute purse I’m carrying below… I’ve worn it casually here, but it’s just the structured clutch I needed for weddings, and formal events in general. Handmade leather bags by Nutsa Modebadze

The effortless appearance of these bags, the perfect finishing touches of what looks like the softest leather I’ve ever seen – these are the reasons why I picked Nutsa Modebadze for today’s post.

The artist was born in Georgia and has started making bags and shoes in 2007. Of course, every item she produces is unique, in addition to being simple, elegant and completely natural.

I won’t beat about the bush much – I love all of these bags and it was very difficult to make a selection of only a dozen. There are plenty more on the website, and the style is either bohemian or urban, but always very natural looking. I can picture myself satchel at hand, wondering the city, just as I would with one of the fantastic clutches. How about you, which one is your fave?
