This is my first ever Halloween craft, and I owe it all to the internet for putting me in a holiday state of mind. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not one for obvious decorations. So you won’t see too much spooky stuff – just black, rotten flowers, cross stitched on a napkin.
What you need:
- flower pattern (free ones here)
- thread & needle
- embroidery hoop
I started by cutting my fabric in a square, and fraying the sides, all around. This will give the napkin a negligent look that kind of goes with the holiday. Of course, you can use a ready-made cloth napkin.
Using a regular floral pattern, I replaced the colors with darker ones. The main flowers I made black and gray, so they look rotten, and instead of green leaves I stitched them in shades of brown. That is pretty much it! I like it is because you can choose whether or now you want to associate it with Halloween!
