Trend: Folklore Inspiration

The Sartorialist

Between the popular Louis Vuitton blankets and Ulyana Sergeenko’s modern reenactments of the Russian folk costume, I find it impossible not to be attracted to “ethnic” items. I’m particularly fond of Eastern European folklore inspiration – the rich colors, the repetitive patterns, the embroidery – but I can’t deny how huge the South American influence is. The mix becomes flawless when folk elements meet modern pieces, such as the mini leather skirt, the skinny pant, the platform or oversized clutch. To get the look, I’d wear any piece of Oana Lupas’ Traditional collection, honestly. Do you include folklore inspiration in your daily wear?
