DIY heart t-shirt
And as I was looking for inspiration through my fabric stash, this pretty eyelet popped. I’ve always been a fan of the pink & khaki combo, so I thought I could use it as an applique on a plain tee in this color. So, a heart – why not? Valentine’s Day is approaching, after all, and those of you celebrating it might be interested in DIY-ing something cute to wear!
What you need:
- plain t-shirt
- pink fabric
- scissors
- pencil
- pink thread & needle/sewing machine
First thing, I decided on the size of the heart and cut a slightly larger piece of the pink fabric. I folded it, on the right side of the fabric, and penciled half a heart on the back. I cut on the pencil trace, unfolded the fabric and got a heart. Next, I pinned it to the t-shirt, until I liked the look. I used the zig-zag stitch of the sewing machine, to allow the fabric to stretch a bit. If you’re hand stitching, I suggest a blanket stitch. And if you want to be 100% sure your heart won’t fray, use fleece for the heart – it won’t be as pretty as eyelet fabric, but it will look cozy!

It’s super cute, and I love how the bright pink pops up!! <3
Love the color combination and also a project that can be machine or hand stitched. I posted the top photo and a link back to your blog on truebluemeandyou.
