Handmade finds: Lizzie Needles
Lizzie Pearce is a Bristol based artist who I’ve recently came across on Etsy. Her shop, Lizzie Needles, sells impressive felt art, made in great detail. Her subjects are fairytale creatures – mostly animals and mushrooms – which take the shape of rings, fascinators, brooches or necklaces, and are delivered in pretty handmade boxes. “I use the imagery of woodland fairytale creatures to reference themes that are important to me. These include, the impact of capitalism on our country-side and folk lore traditions, the darker sub-text behind our well loved and familiar traditional stories often told to children and objects such as hunting trophies and taxidermy”, Lizzie states on her website.
